Laurent Kueny
Laurent Kueny is currently director for energy at the Ministry of Economics, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty of France, leading the department, which develop and implement the French Government’s energy policy.
He began his career working in Nuclear Regulatory activities, first for the IAEA and, from 2006 to 2012, for the French Nuclear Safety Authority (as regional division Head and as Director of department). Between 2012 and 2015, he spent 4 years in Vienna as a counselor to the French Ambassador to the IAEA, in charge of nuclear safety and security. This diplomatic position allowed him to play an active role during the review of international agreements following Fukushima Daichi accident, regarding nuclear safety and nuclear security.
He spent 5 years working in the private sector, working for Bureau Veritas, which is a world leader in Testing Inspection and Certification, first as Vice President for nuclear services and then as Vice President Group Strategy.
He joined again the public sector in 2020, leading during 4 years a department of the Ministry for internal affairs in the field of cybersecurity and digital affairs.
Laurent Kueny holds a Master in Science and executive engineering (Mines-ParisTech) and two university diploma in international Law. He has been lecturer in Nuclear nuclear law at the Faculty of Aix-en-Provence between 2008 and 2019.
