Jussi Heinonen leads a department responsible for Nuclear waste regulation and Safeguards at STUK, Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority of Finland. STUK’s task is to regulate nuclear waste management including disposal, decommissioning, transport and all aspects in nuclear non-proliferation.

From beginning of his regulatory career Heinonen has been working with spent fuel disposal. He is nowadays involved in more STUK strategical development, international participation and other things – however the regulation of Posiva’s work is still a key priority and of high interest.
