Bringing his knowledge of waste management to the NNF, Bertrand Martelet is the head of international development and services for the new entity in charge of nuclear decommissioning and waste management for EDF since 2015. He oversees the EDF strategic roadmap and international development in decommissioning and waste management. He is chairman of the Cyclife & Socodei boards, the EDF subsidiaries in decommissioning services and waste management operations (industrial facilities in France, UK and Sweden).

After a degree in engineering from ENSTA, Bertrand Martelet joined EDF about 25 years ago as an engineer to work on fracture mechanics issues and to develop simplified tools and methods for flaw assessments. He took on various positions within EDF including heading a research group on fluid mechanics modeling for PWR plants within EDF R&D and holding positions within EDF’s corporate auditing and marketing divisions. He left his position as head of the mass market offers department to lead EDF’s decommissioning and environmental studies division before taking on his current role.
