Graduated from Padova (Italy), Dr Massimo Garribba is a qualified electronic engineer with a PhD in Informatics and Industrial Electronics. After spending seven years on EU fusion research at the JET project, he joined the European Commission in 1995, originally working on digital issues. In 2004, he moved to the Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, working on Euratom coordination and international relations, first as Head of Unit, then as Director responsible for nuclear energy and the ITER project. In July 2020, he was promoted to Deputy Director-General responsible for the coordination of all aspects of EURATOM policy.
